Motivation & Philosophy:
Proprietary businesses can protect themselves from
the "patent minefield" by keeping their
"intellectual property" secret and forbid reverse
engineering by a lisence agreement, while patents
hurts all types of openness. This is an effort to
put the same legal restriction on patent violation
hunting for something otherwise in public domain.
